Description

TemplateGen is an ActiveX component that generates an output page based on a pre-defined template and a user defined data definition file. The template file can be any type of file such as HTML, ASP, JSP, XML, or ordinary text files that the developer embeds with special tags that will be replaced with data specified by the definition file. This component can transform the template file using data soley from the definition file, manually from a data entry form contained in this component, or both. TemplateGen allows you to separate the tasks of HTML, ASP, and JSP file creation and data population. The developer can create the template file in their development tool of choice, leaving the data merge to data entry personnel who need not know how to interpret HTML, ASP, or JSP.

Remarks

This component provides a built-in data entry form that is created dynamically based on the replacement fields in the template file and data definition file.

TemplateGen provides events that signal you when the template file is about to be read, allowing you to cancel the operation.  It provides an event that signals when each tag is parsed from the template file. It provides an event that signals you when each data value is read from the definition file, providing you with the means to change the data associated with a particular tag.

This component can be included in any application that supports COM.
