Description

The DocInfoX component contains document information management functionality that allows you to store and retrieve summary information with the document. This component allows you to store information such as: a title, description of file, positional information, text annotations, and custom information in the document itself; eliminating the need to store annotation information in a separate file or database.

Remarks

This component uses technology that allows the extra data to be stored in the same file as the original document. Some of the uses for this component:

• Reading and modifying the statistics of a Word document.
• Adding and retrieving summary information to a graphic file.
• Adding and retrieving annotation information to a text or graphic file.
• Adding and retrieving custom information, such as an identifier to a fax image file.
• Viewing and modifying the summary information in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files.

Languages like Visual Basic and C++ can access this component through a normal COM interface. Scripting languages like VBScript and Jscript can access this component through an automation interface (IDispatch interface). Currently there is one interface (ISummaryInfo) to access the SummaryInfo object.
